The Hydrotherapy pool is newly built and opened on the 1st July 2000. It is housed in a modern brick built building with double glazed windows and thermally insulated tiled roof - to ensure comfort all year round whatever the weather! The pool itself has been built to the highest standards and designed together with swimming pool experts. All equipment and electrics have been fitted by fully qualified SPATA * technicians.

The pool is 18 feet in length and 10 feet wide with water depth of 4 ½ feet. At one end of the pool there are two sets of swim jets to create a flow of water if needed. In designing the pool safety for dogs and their owners has been a key element. Dogs can enter the water by walking down shallow graduated steps or - if unable to do this - by a battery operated hydrotherapy hoist with specially designed harness. The hoist system is extremely robust and is the same as used for human hydrotherapy patients. Outside the pool the floor is fitted with non-slip tiles for maximum grip.

The temperature of the water is typically a warm 87 degrees F. Water quality is checked regularly throughout the day and is recorded each time. Chlorine is used as we believe it offers the best resistance to bacteria and thus the best protection for your dog. In the USA chlorine has been used successfully in canine hydrotherapy pools for over 15 years with no adverse effects.

After swimming your dog can be showered if desired and we also have a drying room. There is a height adjustable grooming table, hair dryers, blaster dryer and plenty of drying cloths - but please bring your own towels!
